Attention Students and New Professionals – Get Mentored!
Only students and new professionals can take advantage of this wonderful program. And is one of the many benefits you receive when you join the NJSCSW. For your convenience, a link is available for the NJSCSW Membership Application or you can print it, and send it to:
New Jersey Society for Clinical Social Work PO Box 371 Oakland, NJ 07436
The purpose of Mentoring is to provide support and guidance to social workers who are making that difficult and sometimes overwhelming transition, from graduate education to beginning a social work practice.
For those already practicing, Mentoring can be a tool for furthering career development. Some other benefits of the program include:
- Assistance in building professional confidence and competence
- Career development
- Job search support
- Networking
- Information about further training
- Help in sorting out problems and identifying priorities in your practice
- Stress management
Be a Mentor… Make a difference.
We are always looking for more members who are interested in volunteering their time to becoming mentors. Get involved! The individual mentoring program will help support and guide new professionals.
It can involve a few phone calls or face-to-face meetings. As a mentor, you are there to answer questions, address concerns, and offer general support.
We also offer group mentoring, depending on the interest and availability of participants and experienced members who are interested in facilitating a group.
Being a volunteer mentor is not a longstanding commitment, and it is a great way to stay connected to new professionals in the field. If you would like to be on the list of available mentors, or have questions about what this entails, please contact Luba Shagawat via email at Luba11@aol.com or by phone: 973-831-1710.
